Dwain H. Hughes Memorial Scholarship – Enid High School

Background:

Dwain H. Hughes, former Senior VP and CFO of Radio Shack, played an instrumental role in establishing Radio Shack’s Tech Prep Program (in conjunction with Tarrant County College), which provided scholarships for students who studied technology. Upon Hughes’ passing in 2001, the Dwain H. Hughes Memorial Scholarship was established in his honor.

Amount:

Up to $3,000. Funds may be used for tuition, fees and books.

Geographic limitations:

Enid High School – Enid, OK

Eligibility:

  • Minimum cumulative 3.25 GPA
  • Scored a minimum 1200 on the SAT or 25 on the ACT
  • Establish financial need

Deadline:

Date to be determined by the Enid High School Scholarship Committee

Renewals:

Renewal criteria include earning a minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA and maintaining appropriate conduct. Students wishing to renew must send The Community Foundation a letter of request, along with a current transcript, for committee review within two weeks of the close of the spring semester. Once the scholarship has been renewed, the student must send The Community Foundation an updated contact sheet.

The application is available in the Enid High School Guidance Office. After completing the application, turn it in to the Enid High School Guidance Office.
